TES MAY STUDENT LEADERS
Lyla Barnes - 1st Grade and Ezra Phillips - Kindergarten
I am so proud of the growth Lyla has shown this year. She is such a hard worker, and when she sets her mind to achieving a goal, nothing will stop her. She is a great friend to her classmates and to those not in her class as well. She is always willing to help those who are struggling with a task or to read with someone to help them improve their reading skills. Lyla helps to make my days better with her sweet smile and her loving hugs. Thank you Lyla for letting me be your teacher this year. (Melanie Cranford - First Grade Teacher)
Ezra is always willing to help others and give his very best. Ezra brings an extra snack for a friend who doesn't bring one. He always thinks of others and wants to help. Ezra sets a good example for his classmates. It has been a true pleasure to have been his teacher this year. (Christina King - Kindergarten Teacher)

TES FUN DAY
Even though all the rain made our grounds too wet for field day, TES students didn't let that dampen their fun. Huge thanks to Coach Freese, Coach Murphy and PTO for making an alternate plan, and providing the inflatable obstacle courses for all students to enjoy.

TES FIELD DAY INFORMATION
Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 17 at Trenton Elementary School. Weather permitting, field day will start at 8:30 on the fields out back, and parents are invited to attend. Students will have a hot dog, chips and water for lunch after field day. We will release students at 12:00. Buses will run at 12:30.
Please see the attached picture for the color of shirt for each grade level to wear. If your child was at TES last year they should have a field day shirt the color of their grade level listed below that they can wear. If not, any shirt this color would be great so we can easily identify the classes.
In the event that it rains on field day, or that we have had so much rain previously that the fields are too wet, we will have to have our events in the gyms. If we have to go to this plan, the gyms will be full with the students and teachers, and unfortunately parents will not be able to attend. We will make this announcement no later than the day before field day on May 16.

TES IS READY FOR THE SECOND SEMEMSTER
Students at Trenton Elementary have had a great week back following Christmas break. Third and fourth grade students have been learning about soil in science.
Third grade scientists explored what soil is made from, types of spoil, and how soil is formed. They investigated weathering and decomposition, and were so excited to learn the vital role of earthworms within the process.
Fourth grade scientists have been learning about water retention in soil. They observed which soils were the best at retaining water, and wrote about their discoveries. Fun and learning at TES!

TES DECEMBER STAFF SHOUT OUT!!! DANA CAPPS- TES Pre-K Teaching Assistant
Dana Capps does a fantastic job as the campus director for our District UIL Academic Meet. She takes care of countless details including scheduling events, organizing students, and providing practice materials to UIL coaches for all of the events.
Ms. Capps also does a phenomenal job as the Music Memory Coach. She makes practicing for Music Memory exciting each day after school for her team. She has different games and activities for the kids to enjoy so they can learn the music and have fun while they learn. They are cutting, gluing, making word searches, and doing other engaging things as they listen to music. She provides a snack for them each day, as well as some type of treat as an incentive for their hard work as they go out the door. They all leave with a smile on their face because she gives each one of them the confidence they need to be successful in their event. Her dedication ensures that her students finish at the top of the competitions each year.
TES is very grateful for her dedication to the UIL Academic Meet where our students have the opportunity to shine. - Mendy Hill (Dyslexia Specialist)
